DAY 1: NORTH AMERICA
/ EUROPE. Depart North America
aboard our trans-Atlantic jet abroad. Dinner and breakfast are served
aloft.
DAY
2: ZURICH. Upon arrival at
Zurich Airport we are met by our tour escort and motor coach. Our
afternoon orientation tour of Zurich, Switzerland largest city and one
of the world’s most important financial centers, will show us the
Grossmunster - Zwingli’s Great Church and the Wasserkirche. Dinner and
overnight at our hotel.
DAY
3: ZURICH / GENEVA. After
breakfast we drive this morning past turquoise lakes and needle-like
summit peaks to Geneva, where we will see the blossoming flower clock,
the 500 foot high Jet d'Eau Fountain as well as pay a visit to the World
Council of Churches headquarters, St. Pierre's Cathedral and the
Reformation Monument. Also visit the Temple de L’auditoire and the
Cemetery des Rois. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY
4: GENEVA / LAUSANNE / MONTREUX / GENEVA.
After breakfast we drive to Lausanne for some time at leisure to explore
this city. Then on to Monteux to visit the Chillon Castle. Return to
Geneva for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: GENEVA /
VENICE (MESTRE). After an early
breakfast we leave Geneva for Venice, Italy. On the way through the
Italian countryside we will stop for a rest and refreshments (on your
own) and arrive in Mestre late afternoon. Dinner at our hotel and
overnight.
DAY
6: VENICE. After a good
breakfast we will have a half day tour of Venice, including St. Mark's
Cathedral, Dogges Palace and the Academy of Fine Arts. The rest of the
day is at leisure for activities of your own in Venice. Dinner and
overnight at our hotel in Venice.
DAY 7: VENICE (MESTRE)
/ PISA / MONTECATINI TERME.
Drive across serene countryside to Pisa to see the leaning Tower. Then
continue to Montecatini Terme for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8: MONTECATINI
TERME (FLORENCE). Today we visit
Florence - the city considered to be the cultural heart of Italy and
former stronghold of the Medici family. Visit the Piazza della Signoria,
where the Neptune Fountain stands. Then we visit the Florence
Cathedral, the Baptistery with it's "Gates of Paradise" doors, and the
Medici Chapels. Afternoon is at leisure for an optional visit to the
Academia that houses the Michelangelo's original statue of David.
Return to Montecatini for dinner and overnight.
DAY 9: MONTECATINI /
ASSISI / ROME. Morning
sightseeing begins with a drive to the mystic province of Umbria and its
capital city of Assisi, town of St. Francis. Our afternoon walking tour
includes Santa Maria degli Angeli with the "thornless rose bush", the
Basilica of St. Francis and the Church of St. Clare. Continue to Rome
for dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 10: ROME.
After breakfast our tour highlights include City Hall, the Trevi
Fountain, the Coliseum, St. Peter in chains, Appian Way, Palazzo Venezia,
Arch of Constantine, and the Catacombs. This afternoon is at leisure
for options of your own, such as The Vatican City including the Vatican
Museum and Gallery, Raphael's Rooms, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's
Basilica. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 11: ROME / NORTH
AMERICA. This morning we
transfer to Rome Airport for our return flight to the United States –
the end of a most memorable journey. |
