DAY 01: NORTH AMERICA / LONDON, ENGLAND.
Depart North America aboard our transatlantic jet bound for London.
DAY 02: LONDON.
Upon arrival at London Airport we are met by our tour escort and motor
coach and transferred to our hotel in England's exciting capital city of
London. The balance of the day is at leisure, dinner and overnight at
our hotel.
DAY
03: LONDON. Our full day
sightseeing tour of London will commence with the West End. We will see
Hyde Park, Marble Arch, Mayfair, Piccadilly, the Houses of Parliament
and Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard ceremony
(if held). A highlight will be a visit to impressive Westminster
Abbey. This afternoon we travel into the City of London, rich in
history and for many centuries the leading commercial and financial
centre. We visit St Paul's Cathedral, the masterpiece designed by Sir
Christopher Wren, and which is the final resting place of many renowned
sailors, soldiers and painters. We then continue to the infamous Tower
of London which for 900 years has guarded the approach to London from
the River Thames and has been a fortress, royal palace and prison.
steeped in the nation's history it has been the scene of many executions
including the beheading of Anne Boleyn, wife of Henry VIII. We also see
the Crown Jewels before returning to our hotel for dinner and
overnight. Sing the Vigil Mass at Westminster Cathedral.
DAY 04: CAMBRIDGE. Today
we have Excursion to Ely and Cambridge. Sing a lunchtime
recital in Ely and continue to the university city of Cambridge.
Some time at leisure here to stroll around this beautiful old city,
perhaps viewing one of it's many colleges, or just strolling along the
"Backs", a tranquil area on the River Cam. Witness Evensong at
Kings College and St. John’s Chapel.
DAY 05: STRATFORD-UPON-AVON.
Today we start at
Blenheim Palace–Stratford.
Sing informally at the Palace. On to Stratford-Upon-Avon,
birthplace of the Bard William Shakespeare.
DAY 06: STRATFORD-UPON-AVON. We will visit Shakespeare’s
birthplace and see the 16th century Harvard House, the Guildhall and
other points of interest in the beautiful old market town with numerous
timbered old buildings. Afternoon performance at Holy Trinity Chapel.
DAY 07: BATH / BRISTOL.
Tour Roman Baths before
singing a noon performance at Bath Abby. Continue to Bristol for dinner
and overnight.
DAY
08: SALISBURY / STONEHENGE. We
drive swiftly to the market town of Salisbury to visit it's Cathedral,
which has the tallest spire in England. Plains to mysterious Stonehenge
to visit the fascinating collection of ancient monoliths placed there
nearly 2,000 years before the birth of Christ and which were once used to
calculate the eclipses and equinoxes.
DAY
09: CANTERBURY. This morning we drive through
the Kentish countryside to Canterbury, the traditional home of the
Archbishop of Canterbury, and the most important religious city in
England. In 1170, Thomas A Beckett was murdered in his own cathedral by
the knights of Henry II and shortly afterwards was canonized; for
centuries pilgrims flocked to his shrine - they have been immortalized
in "The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer. We have a detailed visit
to the Cathedral and also see some of the medieval walls of the city.
Some time at leisure before joining the motorway system and driving
swiftly to London for dinner and overnight.
DAY 10: LONDON / USA.
Transfer this morning to the airport for our return flight to the United
States at the end of our enjoyable tour.
