DAY 1 NORTH AMERICA / ACCRA.  Depart New York for Accra via jet service. Meals will be served enroute.

DAY 2 ACCRA.  Arrive at Accra Airport. You are met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. This evening enjoy a Traditional Welcome and Naming Ceremony. Orientation and Lecture by Dr. Elom Dovlo of the University of Ghana on “Christianity and Ghanaian Traditional Institutions”. Dinner is on your own tonight. Meet tailors and dressmakers for a display of garments made from local fabric. You may wish to place an order for custom-made clothes.

DAY 3 ACCRA.  After breakfast, pay a courtesy call and hold discussions with Head of a Church on the mission and role of the Christian Church in Ghana.  Several church extension services available this morning.  Return to the hotel early afternoon with the remainder of the day at leisure.  Dinner on your own.  This evening we will have a lecture on “The Theft of African Civilization” by Dr. Hamet Maulana.

DAY 4 ACCRA.  Depart after breakfast on Accra city tour visiting the National Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, WEB Dubois Memorial Center, Precious Minerals Marketing Corporation and the Artists Alliance Gallery, the University of Ghana at Legon and the Arts and Craft Market where you can shop till you drop.

DAY 5 ACCRA / KUMASI.  This morning depart on a 4-hour bus ride through tropical forest and pass by several scenic villages and picturesque towns. Stop enroute at a farming village to interact with the people. Stop briefly at Ejisu just before entering Kumasi to visit the Yaa Asantewaa Museum dedicated to the female general who led the Ashanti armies against the British in the final colonial war in 1900. Upon arrival in Kumasi, check into the hotel. We will have an afternoon city tour of Kumasi visiting the National Cultural Center, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, Kumasi Fort, Okomfo Anokye sword, the School of Art & Sculpture, University of Science and Technology. This evening interact with a Royal of the Golden Stool on Ashanti traditional beliefs and customs.

DAY 6 KUMASI / AHWIAA / BONWIRE / ELMINA.  After breakfast visit Manhyia Palace, residence of the Asantehene and the Palace Museum. Continue to Ahwiaa, the wood carvers village and then to Bonwire, home of the Kente cloth. Drive south to the central region of Ghana. Cross the River Prah, which was a taboo for Kings of Ashanti to cross. Drive through Assin Manso, which was a rest stop for tired slaves being herded south to the dungeons to refresh in the “Slave River”. Arrive in Elmina and check in to the hotel. Spend a couple of hours at the beach before the last rays of sun disappear. Dinner (on your own) at the restaurant seaside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean from where our ancestors were torn away from their families and loved ones and departed into slavery.

DAY 7 ELMINA.  Depart after breakfast to a local church. Participate in joint worship between African and African-American Christians. Rest of the day free to spend with our newly met Christian brethren and sistren or for relaxing on the resort’s beaches and using the variety of sporting facilities available.

DAY 8 ELMINA / ACCRA.  Depart after breakfast for the Cape Coast Castle and the West African Historical Museum.  The Castle guide will conduct you on a tour through the slave quarters, dungeons and Negotiation Hall where our ancestors were bargained for and sold.  Contemplate the inhuman treatment and the journey to the Americas where over half died in the middle passage from exhaustion and disease.  Return to Accra with a stop at Kakum National Park for a walk through a rainforest.  Arrive at your hotel early evening.

DAY 9 ACCRA.  Free day to enjoy activities on your own.

DAY 10 ACCRA / NORTH AMERICA.  Full day at leisure for your personal exploration or shopping. Evening transfer to the airport to check in for your flight to North America

DAY 11 ARRIVAL NORTH AMERICA.  Arrival in North America in the early morning local time.
