DAY 1 NORTH AMERICA /
EUROPE. Tour members will gather at the
ticket counter at the airport two hours prior to their departure to
Europe. Dinner and breakfast will be served in-flight.
DAY 2 CAIRO.
Upon arrival we will be met and transferred to our hotel.
Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 3 CAIRO / ALEXANDRIA.
Early morning departure to Alexandria, which is about a three hour ride.
Upon our arrival, we will have a full day sightseeing beginning with the
Greco-Roman museum which contains statues, pottery, jewelry, marble
pieces and other artifacts, which give you a picture of the grandeur of
Alexandria in its Greek and Roman Days. Visit Fort Qaitbey and the
Mosque of Abu al-Abbas. Continue to the Catacombs of Kom-El-Shouqafa.
These tombs are remarkable for their unusual mixture of art styles,
sculpture and reliefs of Egyptian gods. We then tour Pompey’s Pillar
which is a column 98 feet high and 7 feet thick, made of Aswan rose
granite erected in 297 A.D. Last we see the Roman Amphitheater which is
the only known amphitheater in the Roman era in Egypt. Evening departure
back to Cairo for overnight.
DAY 4 CAIRO / GIZA / LUXOR.
Morning visit to the Egyptian Museum
to
view many specimens of finest antiquities including precious collections
from the tomb of Tut-Ankh-Amon. Then drive through the city past Cairo
University to Giza. Visit Cheops Pyramid and the Sphinx. Camels or
horses will be available to ride to the Pyramid Plateau. Afternoon
sightseeing drive along the Nile Corniche past East El Ainin Hospital to "Old Cairo". Proceed to Memphis.
Visit the site at the Nile where Moses was found in the bulrushes.
Drive via Republic Square past Abdin Palace to Sultan Hassan Mosque, the
Citadel and Mohammed Aly Mosque for a panorama of Cairo; through the
City of the Dead to the native bazaars of Khan El Khalili where time is
allowed for browsing and shopping. Tonight we will take the evening
train to Luxor. Dinner and overnight on the train.
DAY 5 LUXOR / NILE CRUISE.
Today we begin our four day cruise on the Nile. Visit the Temple of
Karnak and Luxor sightseeing. Dinner and overnight aboard ship.
DAY 6 CRUISE.
After breakfast aboard ship, cross to the west bank where
we visit the Necropolis of Thebes, tomb of King Tut, temple of Queen
Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari and Colossi of Memnon. In the evening, we
sail to Esna. Dinner and overnight aboard the ship.
DAY 7 CRUISE.
This morning,
after breakfast, we visit the temple of god Khnum. This evening sail to
Edfu where we visit the Temple of Horus. Sail to Kom-Ombo after that
and enjoy dinner and overnight aboard ship.
DAY 8 CRUISE.
This morning we visit the Temple shared by the two gods Sobek and
Haroeris. Sail to Aswan. This afternoon visit the botanical gardens and
the Agha Khan Mausoleum by Felucca. Dinner and overnight in the cruise
ship.
DAY 9 ASWAN / CAIRO.
This morning after breakfast we disembark our ship and visit the High
Dam, the Old Dam and the Granite Quarries in Aswan. Depart from Aswan to
Cairo for overnight and dinner at our hotel.
DAY 10 CAIRO.
Today is a free day of leisure for activities of your own.
DAY 11 CAIRO /NORTH AMERICA.
After breakfast we depart our hotel for the Cairo airport to catch our
flight to North America. The end of a most enjoyable journey. |
